If you want to transfer a domain name from one domain name registrar to another, you will have to go through a couple of security procedures. One of them is getting a unique EPP authorization code from the current registrar – provided that you are the domain registrant, since the code is emailed to the domain owner’s email and no one else can get it. You’ll need to give this code to the new registrar, otherwise they won’t be able to initiate the domain transfer process. The EPP codes are case-sensitive and may comprise of digits or special symbols such as commas or dots, which can be easily misentered, so make sure you copy & paste the right code. As an additional security measure, the transfer authorization code for a domain may be reset regularly. Certain registrars refer to this code as a domain password, a domain secret or an Auth key as well.
