If you see a significant increase in the traffic to your website and in case after you check the visitor statistics it turns out that it comes from locations all over the world or from other servers, your site is probably being attacked by an automatic bot. These programs go through random sites seeking to log in to their administration area through a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments below any sort of article where this sort of an option is available. However, that is something rather popular these days, but if you know the IP addresses through which the attacks come, you could block them, so the bots will be unable to access your site in any way. Certainly, you can block IPs even if you allow only people from specific countries to access your website.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting account with us and you want to block one or several IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that is included in our in-house built Hepsia CP. Using a very simple interface, you can restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to perform this is to log within to your CP, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to choose a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You simply won't have to do anything complicated if you want to block an entire network - you will just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed within the same section, so you shall be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with just a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our semi-dedicated server accounts include a very simple-to-use IP blocking tool, which will allow you to restrict individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your websites with justseveral clicks and you shall not have any difficulties to achieve that even if this is your first web hosting account. Once you check out the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia CP, you'll simply have to choose the domain or subdomain you want from a drop-down list, then type in the IP address inside a box which you'll see there and you will be all set. To restrict the access for an entire network, you have to leave one or more octets blank. For instance, if you enter 123.123. and do not input anything in the third and fourth positions, our server shall deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
